Hey Squaddies, as promised here is a mod guide for the MEGA Centurion. This will serve as a follow up to Alex's review.
Myself nor S.O.F.T. are responsible for any issues caused by modding your blaster. It is your own choice, and your responsibility.
Mods coveredDetachable Barrel
Detachable BarrelThis is much easier to do if you have not already attached the barrel, otherwise you will have fight for a long time to get them apart, but it can be done. First up, unscrew the barrel and break the glue that seals the rest together.
Once open, you will see a crescent moon shaped piece sitting in this groove.
Remove this and the spring. There are two small screws you need to remove to access the other lock. Once done, you should have this.
Reassemble, but this is only half of the job. The other locks are inside the blaster itself.
Open the blaster unit, this may take some force. Two screws are different from most standard screws, they are located here.
Focus on the front end, there is a lock on either side of the shell. Simply unscrew and discard.
Located in front of the mag lock, in the empty space.
There are two ways to do this, either take apart the mag box and remove it, but i decided to snap off part of the spring holding it, and glue back into the open position. Follow the picture above.
While open, move to the plunger. Slide the whole thing forward, and it will soon slip out of the retaining tracks. At this stage, locate 3 screws holding the face onto the tube. Pull apart, and the AR components should fall straight out, being the AR, spring, and a retention ring. Do not screw back together yet.
This track holds the PT assembly in place. Slide forward, it will soon be able to come free.
Inside the PT after AR Removal.
Inside the breech, without AR.
Nerf engineers have been kind enough to add rubber stoppers to absorb the impact force, so there is no need to worry about plunger padding. You cannot get inside the PT without destroying it anyway.
With the plunger tube is free, you can proceed to Epoxy or Plastibond over the slits. I bogged one, and taped the other. You can tape both if you prefer, just make sure it is a very good seal. Once completed, screw back to the plunger face.
Front of PT to the left. Both are airtight.
ReinforcementThis may not be present in your blaster, but in mine a screw started to pull out when I had first opened it. If you see this anywhere, unscrew if needed and epoxy for strength. Once set, we can reassemble.
ReassemblyOnce the plunger assembly is back together and epoxy is set, slide the plunger back into the retaining track. There is a piece of plastic you must leave in place, it is used to prime and hold the breech in position.
Primed, with the above piece holding the breech in position.
Try to line up the priming handles before putting them back together. You may need to move them to get the gears to lock together correctly, otherwise this will happen.
Something's not quite right here...
Once together, try a test fire with a dart and if its all good, screw it up and have fun!
Remember, this blaster is quite a pain to get back together. The gears don't like meeting up properly, but if done properly, you will see the promised range, and hopefully some more accuracy. I know i did!
Enjoy, and feel free to ask questions below.
